Onda V989 is the first tablet with Allwinner’s octa-core chip
Chinese device maker Onda has unveiled the first tablet featuring an 8-core CPU from Allwinner. The Onda V989 is an iPad-sized Android tablet with an Allwinner A80-T octa-core processor.
It’s expected to launch soon for about $177.
The Onda V989 features a 9.7 inch, 2048 x 1536 pixel display, 2GB of RAM, an 8MP rear camera, 2MP front-facing camera.
It features Allwinner’s A80-T processor which pairs 4 ARM Cortex-A15 processor cores with 4 lower-power ARM Cortex-A7 CPU cores with PowerVR G6230 graphics.
Among other things, the chipset supports 4K video playback and capture, H.265/VPN video processing, and USB 3.0.
The tablet also supports Miracast wireless display and features WiFi and Bluetooth. It runs Android 4.4 KitKat software.
